Promote sustainable production
Within the Skylark Foundation arable farmers and processing companies work together to stimulate the sustainable production within agriculture. Skylark Foundation has developed her own sustainability system ‘Skylark’.
The core of Skylark is that every arable farmer, supported by a few colleagues, writes and implements its own sustainability plan. Thanks to experience and the exchange of knowledge exchange more and more arable farmers are able to achieve a contribution to sustainable enterprise.
Our vision: be careful with resources
Due to the growing world population, there is a growing need for good and healthy food. That is why we have to be careful with our sources (nature, habitat, water, soil and air). The Netherlands is also a player in world food supplies so we have to optimize our chain to reduce our dependence. Moreover, the Netherlands is a leading nation when it comes to production improvement and innovation.
Sustainability is measurable
Based on ten sustainability indicators, arable farmers look for new sustainable opportunities within their own farm every year. They measure the result. Sustainability has therefore become a continuous search for improvements. Every participant formulates its own sustainability goals. Knowledge exchange with colleagues (Skylark growers) and professional guidance are the key to success.
Komeco as a knowledge partner
Komeco is affiliated with Skylark Foundation as a knowledge partner. In terms of sustainability, the soil of the fields is also part of many discussions. Skylark Foundation strives for better soil management and 0% emissions for soil, air and water. Komeco’s vision meets Skylark’s vision as both parties strive for a rich soil, on which high-quality crops can be cultivated and ultimately good food can be produced.
